Tennis Coaching / Beginner Lessons

Starting Tennis As An Adult, Without Feeling Behind.

Beginner lessons are for adults who have never played, or played briefly years ago and want to start again properly. The first session assumes nothing, not even that you own a racket.

01

What The First Few Sessions Look Like

Beginner coaching is sequenced deliberately. This is roughly the order, though it adjusts to how quickly you pick things up.

01
No racket required to start
Andre can lend a racket for your first session so you can try it before deciding to buy your own.
02
Grip and footwork first
The first sessions build the two things that make everything after easier: how you hold the racket and how you move to the ball.
03
Rally before rules
Getting the ball back over the net consistently comes before scoring, positioning, or serve technicalities.
04
A pace that isn't rushed
Beginner sessions run at whatever speed you're actually progressing at, not a fixed number of lessons to 'graduate'.

How Many Lessons Before You Feel Comfortable

There's no fixed number Andre promises, because it depends on how often you play between lessons and how much racket-sport background you're bringing in. What's consistent is that most adult beginners have a genuine, sustained rally within their first handful of sessions, which is usually the point where tennis stops feeling like a lesson and starts feeling like a sport you play.

If you're bringing a partner or a friend who's also starting out, small-group lessons often work better than going one-on-one from day one. See small-group lessons for that format.
